Marcus Filmz

A filmmaker, editor, and visual storyteller drawn to the power of real stories. My work lives in the space between memory and imagination, often inspired by culture, community, and the quiet moments that shape us.

Over the past decade, I’ve had the honor of collaborating with groups like NFL Media, ACLU, and Sirius XM but my heart is always in the work that feels personal, grounded, and true. Whether capturing a conversation on a front porch or a mural rising on a city wall, I’m always searching for what’s honest and human.

At Marcus Filmz, every project is an invitation to see deeper, to feel more, and to remember what connects us. I’m grateful you’re here, and I hope something in my work speaks to your spirit. Maybe we’ll get to create something meaningful together.

In the Feathers of Our Ancestors: Big Chief Shaka Zulu and the Spirit of Black Masking

In the Feathers of Our Ancestors is a 12-minute short documentary that offers an intimate window into the life and legacy of Big Chief Shaka Zulu, a master craftsman, cultural guardian, and leader of the Golden Feather Hunters in New Orleans. At the heart of this film is the Black Masking Indian tradition—a vibrant, deeply rooted cultural expression born from the intersection of African and Native American heritage.
